Inspired by performance artist Scottee’s Working Class Dinner Party, Museum as Muck hosted a Working Class Tea Party at the British Museum’s National Programme Conference in 2019.
Workshop facilitators gathered at an enormous table with tea and (broken) biscuits to discuss class issues in a relaxed and open way, as you would among friends.
Encircling the table, participants sat down with the facilitators to ask questions or share experiences. The format is designed to be a non-hierarchical alternative to the traditional conference panel discussion.
The Working Class Tea Party can be run as a breakout session or informal workshop. Get in touch if you want to join the party.
