Birmingham

An advocate for the impact of culture on wellbeing, Julie has worked in the museum sector for 15 years championing equality and diversity best practice. She is currently responsible for the Collections at The New Art Gallery Walsall which she hopes are accessible to everyone and reflect contemporary society. An EU-funded school trip to France and the recent opening of Dundee Contemporary Arts inspired her to seek work in cultural institutions. Julie’s working class background meant she experienced challenges during her studies and in pursuit of her career, while teaching in Japan gave her the lived experience as an outsider. She identifies as neurodivergent, anti-racist and feminist, and is the mother of two young sons.
